Sentinel data use for Forestry and Crop Mapping
Two hands-on sessions on the use of Sentinel data over forested areas and for crop mapping are provided by RUS within the Trans-Atlantic Training event.
The topic of TAT 2018 (TAT-6) is Integration of Radar and Optical Remote Sensing in Studying Land Cover/Land Use Change.
Lectures and training activities will be focused on the evaluation of ecosystems (e.g. forest disturbances, agricultural land changes and abandonment) by using different types of sensors.
A detailed programme for each day of the course is available here.
- 7 June 2018
The RUS team will provide the RUS Hands-on Exercises: use of Sentinel-1, -2 and -3 over forested areas practical session.
- 8 June 2018
The RUS team will provide the RUS Hands-on Exercises: use of Sentinel-1 and Sentinel-2 for crop mapping practical session.
Training is a series of Remote sensing / Earth Observation training and capacity building activities with the aim of sharing and discussing advanced research methods and technologies during meetings for scientists and students from both Europe and USA, with
support of ESA, NASA and SCERIN.
Attendees will bring their own laptop and will be provided with access to the RUS platform Virtual Machine for the RUS hands-on exercises.
Attendance to the training course is free of charge, however participants are expected to cover their own travel and accommodation costs.
